Why JULL doesn't need third-party authentication
Most pre-owned Hermès dealers source from auctions, consignors, or grey-market resellers. Their bags need third-party authentication because the chain of custody is unclear. JULL does not work that way.
Every JULL bag comes direct from the Hermès boutique chain.
We are personal shoppers with established relationships at Hermès boutiques — Bond Street, Sloane Street, Royal Exchange, and select international locations. Every bag we sell was purchased originally at a Hermès boutique, with original receipt, original orange box, and original packaging intact.
The bag goes from Hermès to its original buyer to JULL to you. The chain is unbroken. There is no point at which the bag passes through grey markets or unknown hands.
Why this matters
Third-party authentication services like Entrupy, Bababebi, and Real Authentication exist for a reason: most pre-owned bags come from sources that cannot be verified. Counterfeit factories have become sophisticated enough that human experts working from photos alone are sometimes deceived. Authentication is a probabilistic exercise — even the best services state their findings as “opinion” rather than certification.
JULL sidesteps this entire problem. We do not authenticate our bags because we do not need to. Provenance is provenance — when a bag traces back to a Hermès boutique purchase with the original invoice, there is no probabilistic question left to answer.
This is why we describe ourselves as a personal shopper rather than a reseller. We are the people who buy bags at Hermès on behalf of clients. The bag never leaves a controlled chain.
What comes with every JULL bag
- ✓Original Hermès boutique invoice or receipt. Traceable to the boutique location and date of original purchase.
- ✓Original Hermès orange box. Sized to the bag, with brown ribbon and original packaging.
- ✓Original dust bag. Hermès branded flannel, sized to the bag.
- ✓Original accessories. Felt, raincoat, blank notebook, sleeper bag — whatever Hermès originally included.
- ✓JULL provenance letter. A short signed letter on JULL letterhead documenting the chain of custody from boutique to you.
- ✓Hand inspection report. Every bag is hand-inspected at our London workroom against 60+ markers — not because we are uncertain about provenance, but because we want you to receive the bag in the condition we describe.

Frequently asked questions
- How does JULL source its bags?
- Through established relationships with Hermès boutique buyers and collectors. Every bag is acquired with original invoice and original packaging intact. We do not buy from grey markets, anonymous sellers, or unverified consignors.
- Do you use Entrupy or Bababebi?
- No. Third-party authentication is for bags whose provenance is unclear. JULL only sources bags whose chain of custody traces to the boutique, so the authentication question never arises. We do recommend Entrupy or Bababebi if you are buying from any non-JULL source.
- What if I want independent authentication anyway?
- You are welcome to commission an independent opinion at your expense. We make every JULL bag available for your authenticator's photography prior to purchase. We are confident in our sourcing.
- Why is JULL more expensive than Vestiaire Collective?
- Provenance has a price. A Vestiaire listing carries no provenance guarantee — the buyer accepts authentication risk regardless of the platform's checks. JULL eliminates that risk because the bag never left the Hermès boutique chain. We charge a premium for that certainty.
- Do you offer hand inspection on bags I bought elsewhere?
- No. Our inspection process is built into our sourcing pipeline, not offered as a paid service. If you need authentication on a bag from another source, we recommend Entrupy ($119 per Hermès bag, 24-hour turnaround) or Bababebi (when she reopens to new clients). Our free AI photo checker can give you a first-pass read while you decide.
