2. Year code (heat-stamped letter)

Find the small letter heat-stamped into the leather, usually inside the front strap on Birkin/Kelly, near the front flap on Constance. The letter may sit inside a square, a circle, or alone.

Can you clearly read “HERMÈS PARIS MADE IN FRANCE” on the front?
Is the accent on the È clearly present?
How sharp are the letters?

4. Saddle stitching

On a long seam like the handle, count how many stitches fit into one centimetre. Authentic Hermès production runs 8 to 9 stitches per centimetre.

5. Base feet

Birkin, Kelly, and Bolide bags have four metal feet under the base. Picotin, Evelyne, and Constance do not — answer “not applicable” for those models.

How many feet have visible micro-stamping (e.g. MADE IN FRANCE) on the underside?

6. Edge paint (the lacquered leather edges)

How does the edge feel and look?
Is the colour of the edge paint consistent along all edges?
