A horseshoe stamp beside the blind stamp is how Hermès marks a special order: a Birkin commissioned to a client's own brief rather than chosen from what the boutique had that season. This one pairs Etain with brushed palladium hardware, a combination you will not find on the standard order sheet. Etain is Hermès' pewter grey, a cool stone shade with a soft taupe warmth that changes with the light, and the brushed finish gives the palladium a satin, almost matte surface that sits quietly against it rather than shining. The leather is Clemence, taken from young bull calf and tumbled to a broad, flat grain with a gentle matte finish. It is softer and slightly heavier than Togo, and at 35 cm it gives the Birkin a relaxed, generous shape that settles beautifully once it is carried. Stamp T dates the bag to 2015. It has never been worn: the protective felt is still on the hardware and the handles have kept their original shape. The 35 is the classic working size of the Birkin and, for many clients, the most practical of the line: large enough for a laptop, a scarf and a day's essentials, without tipping into travel-bag proportions. In a neutral like Etain it works as an everyday bag across every season, equally right with tailoring or denim, and the grey reads as considered rather than safe. It comes as a full set: box, dust bag, clochette, lock and keys, raincoat and the original Hermès receipt. Every piece we offer is inspected by hand in our London workroom before it is listed.
