Sell outright
We buy the bag ourselves and pay by bank transfer once it has been authenticated in person — usually the same day. The figure is lower than the consignment payout because we are carrying the piece on our own capital.

01Why the consignment figure is higher
When JULL buys a bag outright we tie up our own money for as long as it takes to sell, and we price that in. On consignment the bag stays yours, so there is no capital cost for us to recover — and the sum we can agree with you is larger. On a Birkin or Kelly the difference is usually in the thousands.
The part that matters is that the consignment figure is fixed. Most consignment houses take a percentage of whatever the bag eventually sells for, which means you find out your money at the end. We agree the pounds at the start and carry the pricing risk ourselves. If a buyer pays more, that is our margin; if we have to come down to sell, that is also ours — we do not go below your figure without your written consent.
02What happens, step by step
- You send the details. Model, size, colour, leather, hardware, blind stamp, four or five photographs on WhatsApp. No forms.
- Two figures within two working days. The consignment payout and the outright price, both in pounds, both for your bag. You choose.
- The bag comes to Chelsea Harbour. Bring it in — seven days a week — or we send an insured courier anywhere in the UK. We authenticate in person, by hand; if the piece does not pass, the pre-authentication withdrawal is free.
- Outright: paid now. Consignment: agreement signed. Outright, the transfer goes the day of authentication. Consignment, you sign the agreement with your fixed payout in it and we list the bag the same week.
- Consignment: sold, then paid. We tell you when it sells and pay within seven working days of cleared funds. If it has not sold at the end of the 60 days, you collect it or we courier it back — no fee for the attempt.
03What we take
Birkin, Kelly, Mini Kelly, Kelly Cut, Constance, Lindy, Picotin, Evelyne, Bolide, Kelly To Go and the rest of the Hermès leather line in any size. Exotics — crocodile, alligator, lizard, ostrich — on both routes. Hermès jewellery, belts, scarves and shoes outright, and on consignment above a sensible value. Chanel classics by arrangement.
Full set is welcome and lifts the figure; it is not required. Honest wear is fine. What we do not take is anything we cannot authenticate in person, and anything we would not be happy to sell under the JULL Standard.
04Why sellers come to JULL

05Questions sellers ask
How much is my Hermès bag worth?
Send us the model, size, colour, leather, hardware and the blind stamp with a few photographs on WhatsApp. Within two working days you have two figures from us: the sum you would receive on consignment and the sum we would pay outright. Both are in pounds, both are specific to your bag.
Why do most of your clients consign rather than sell outright?
Because the consignment payout is higher. When we buy outright we carry the bag on our own capital and price in that cost. On consignment the bag stays yours until it sells, so the figure we agree with you is larger — and it is fixed in writing before the bag is listed, not a percentage worked out afterwards.
Is the consignment payout really fixed? What if the bag sells for less?
It is fixed. The Agreed Payout is written into the consignment agreement before we list the piece. We do not sell below it without your written consent, and whatever we achieve above it is JULL’s margin. You are not exposed to the final sale price.
How long does consignment take?
The consignment period is 60 days. Most pieces in the models we specialise in — Birkin, Kelly, Mini Kelly, Constance — sell well inside that, because buyers for those models already ask us for them. You are paid within seven working days of cleared funds.
Who is responsible for my bag while it is with you?
JULL is. From the moment you hand the bag over, loss, theft or damage is our risk up to the Agreed Payout. The bag is held at our Chelsea Harbour showroom and only leaves it with a buyer who has paid.
What if I need the money this week?
Then sell outright. We pay by bank transfer to a UK account in your own name once the bag has been authenticated in person, usually the same day you bring it in. The outright figure is lower than the consignment payout — that is the trade for speed.
Do I need the box and receipt?
No. Full set helps the price and we will tell you by how much, but we buy and consign bags without box, dust bag or receipt. Authentication is done on the bag itself — by hand in our workroom.
Do you take worn or damaged bags?
Yes, on both routes. Honest wear is priced in; corner wear, a mark on the leather or a scratched turnlock are normal and do not stop a sale. We will tell you if a spa visit before listing would move the figure.
Can I sell from outside London?
Yes. We arrange insured courier collection anywhere in the UK, and we authenticate on arrival before the agreement is signed. The showroom in Chelsea Harbour is open by appointment seven days a week if you prefer to come in.
