Hermès Picotin 18 in New White Tourillon Clemence with gold hardware — a bag built for daily ease rather than occasion. W stamp, brand new condition. Launched in 2001, the Picotin was conceived as a working bag, its name borrowed from the French measure for a horse's feed bucket. The shape does not pursue elegance through structure; it achieves it through restraint. The open top, the low curved handles and the compact 18cm form make it one of the most genuinely functional pieces in the Hermès range — carried to a market or a meeting with equal conviction. It draws a wearer who finds the performative hardware of other models beside the point. New White sits at the cooler end of Hermès's white register, with a faint bluish clarity that reads as crisp rather than creamy. On Tourillon Clemence — a soft, lightly pebbled calfskin with a particularly generous hand — the tone has depth rather than flatness, shifting between a pale chalk and something closer to cloud depending on the light.
