The Picotin takes its name from the measure of oats fed to a horse, and its shape from the feed bag itself — one of the most direct equestrian references in the Hermès stable, introduced in 2002 and adored ever since. It is the house at its most relaxed: an open bucket with no lock, no flap and no pretension, closed by simple leather straps through the signature toggle. This example wears Gold, the maison's honeyed tan, on Taurillon Clémence — the soft, slouchy, deep-grained calfskin the model was designed around. Clémence takes the Picotin's casual geometry and lets it relax further with wear, developing a lived-in ease that owners find addictive. Gold hardware on Gold leather doubles the warmth and gives the little bucket an unmistakably polished finish. The 18 is the size that started the cult: light as a pouch, roomy enough for a day's essentials, and content on the forearm from market to restaurant.
