A Kelly 25 in Blue Frida Epsom with gold hardware — compact, structured, and wholly resolved as an object. Year Y stamp, unworn condition. Few silhouettes carry the weight of the Kelly's history without being crushed by it; the 25 wears it lightly. Conceived as a handheld piece and worn equally on the crook of the arm, this size sits at the more disciplined end of the Kelly range — neat enough to pass through an evening without effort, substantial enough to be the only bag a considered wardrobe requires. It is the format that collectors tend to reach for first and relinquish last. Blue Frida is a mid-depth teal: neither the cool remove of Bleu de Prusse nor the brightness of Bleu Paon, but something settled and saturated between them — named, as several of the house's blues have been, with a nod to the chromatic intensity associated with Frida Kahlo. On Epsom, which is a fine-grained, press-printed calfskin with a characteristically firm hand, the tone reads cleanly and holds its depth without the variation you would expect from a more porous leather. The structure of the grain gives the colour a slight matte richness that flatters the shade. Gold hardware lifts the palette without competing with it, the warmth of the metal drawing out the green undertones in the blue. This piece was inspected by hand in our London workroom and verified with Entrupy. JULL holds it available for private viewing by appointment at our Chelsea Harbour showroom.
