The Chanel tote sits in a different register to the house's structured classics — it is the piece chosen when a day runs long, when the requirement is capacity and ease rather than ceremony. Coco Neige, Chanel's annual winter sportswear collection, produces bags built for movement: the silhouette is relaxed, the intention practical, and the result sits as naturally against a ski jacket as against a city coat. It is the bag that people who own the formal pieces reach for when they do not want to think about the bag at all.
