Is there a waiting list for the Hermès Mini Kelly? No. Hermès does not keep a list for it. The boutique offers the Mini Kelly to clients it knows, usually after years of purchases across the house, and when it does the colour, leather and hardware are rarely the client's choice. So the honest alternative to the wait is not a better place in a queue: it is buying from someone who already holds the exact bag you want. The table above shows the Mini Kellys on our floor today, and every one is in the Mini Kelly gallery.
Why the boutique route takes so long
Hermès allocates its most wanted bags. A sales associate builds a relationship with a client over many visits, and the bag is offered when the house decides. Nobody can buy their way to the front, and there is no form to fill in. Some clients wait years; many are never offered one. How allocation actually works is in Hermès quota bags explained.
The alternative: a specialist who holds the bag
A specialist buys the bag on the secondary market and sells it to you at a price you can see. You choose the exact piece: the size, colour, leather and hardware. At JULL most Mini Kellys are new and unworn, many with the current blind stamp, and each is photographed as the exact bag sold. What you pay is above the boutique figure, and that difference is the price of choosing and of having it this week. What a Mini Kelly costs, and why, is in Hermès Mini Kelly price UK.
How to buy one this week
First. Look at the Mini Kelly gallery and pick the pieces you like. If the one you want is not there, tell us and we will look for it through our personal shopper service.
Then. See the bag. Book a viewing at Chelsea Harbour, by appointment seven days a week, or ask for a live video call and we will show you the stamp, the corners and the hardware in daylight.
Next. Reserve it with a 25% deposit, which holds it for up to five days; the first £3,000 can be paid by card or Apple Pay on the product page. The balance is paid by bank transfer.
Finally. Collect it from the showroom, or we send it with free, insured and tracked UK delivery.
What to check before you pay
Ask for the blind stamp and the condition grade, and make sure the photographs show the exact piece, not a stock image. A genuine Mini Kelly II has a detachable strap and a 20 cm body; earlier versions differ. Our guides to telling a real Hermès from a fake and to condition grades set out the checks we run on every bag.
If the Mini Kelly is not the only answer
The Kelly Pochette has the same clasp as a clutch, and the Mini Constance has the H clasp and a long strap at around half the price. Both are compared in Mini Kelly vs Kelly Pochette and Kelly vs Constance.
