A peça em detalhe

Rare in any context, a matte alligator Birkin 25 in Aizome Tomekon is the kind of commission that surfaces perhaps once in a season. The hardware here is palladium, the skin Mississippiensis alligator finished without gloss, and the scale of the 25 makes the whole thing compact enough to carry with no sense of effort. Year B stamp, unworn condition. Within the Birkin family the 25 occupies a particular position: small enough to read as deliberate, large enough to be genuinely functional for a day. It is not the workhorse 35 and not a purely ceremonial object — it is the size that people who live with Birkins tend to reach for when the occasion has any edge to it. In matte alligator the bag loses none of its structure; the skin holds the silhouette cleanly and the absence of lacquer means the surface reads as material rather than finish. Aizome Tomekon takes its name from the Japanese indigo-dyeing tradition, aizome, one of the oldest textile arts still practised in Japan, and tomekon — a deep, ink-weighted navy that sits at the darkest point of the indigo range, close to midnight but with a blue core that surfaces in certain light. On matte alligator the colour reads with unusual depth: the natural variation between scales means the tone shifts slightly across the body of the bag, darker in shadow, briefly luminous where light catches a scale edge. It is a navy that reads as a considered alternative to black rather than a colour choice. Palladium hardware completes the piece — cool, precisely fitted, and correct against the cool depth of Tomekon. JULL acquired this piece in unworn state and holds it at Chelsea Harbour, where private viewings are by appointment.
