The Hermès Mini Kelly is the most allocated bag in the house's current collection: a twenty-centimetre Kelly with a removable shoulder strap, the full Sellier construction scaled down to a size that works from morning to evening. Few pieces carry its blend of history and practicality, and fewer still are offered in a colour as fresh as Rose Texas. Rose Texas is a clear, saturated pink with a faint coral warmth. It is bright without being sugary, and it changes character with the light: vivid in daylight, softer and almost rosy indoors. On a bag this small, a strong colour reads as an accent rather than a statement, and it pairs as easily with navy, grey and white as it does with denim. The leather is Epsom, Hermès' embossed calfskin. Epsom holds the crisp lines of the Kelly better than any other leather, resists scratches and light rain, and keeps its shape over years of use, which makes it the most practical choice for a bag that will be carried often. The hardware is palladium-plated: the turn-lock, the clochette and the strap fittings sit cool and silver against the pink, a combination that keeps the colour modern.
