About the Carré 90 scarf

A Carré 90 is 90 by 90 centimetres of silk twill, screen-printed in Lyon one colour at a time — a complex design can take thirty screens — and hemmed by hand with the roll turned to the front, which is the quickest way to tell a real one from a copy. The house prints around forty designs a season, half new and half re-editions of classics, each in six to ten colourways, and retires them when they sell through.

At the UK boutique the silk twill Carré 90 is £520; the special weaves and double-face editions are £640; the cashmere-silk shawl 140 is £1,040 to £1,070. Through us, £415, £510 and £830 to £855: new, in the orange box, with a copy of the boutique receipt, in seven to ten days.

The London boutiques carry a selection of the season’s designs, rarely every colourway of any of them, and the classics — Brides de Gala, Ex-Libris, the equestrian designs — in the popular colourways go within weeks of arriving. We source across boutiques; name the design and the colourway, or send a photo of the one you saw, and we confirm the same day whether it can be found.

Questions

How much is a Hermès Carré 90 in the UK?

£520 at the Hermès boutique for the silk twill as of the date on this page; £640 for special weaves; £1,040–1,070 for the cashmere-silk shawl 140. Sourced through JULL, £415, £510 and £830–855.

Can you find a specific design and colourway?

Usually. Name the design and the colourway, or send a photo; we look across boutiques and confirm the same day. Colourways are not reprinted once they sell through, so if one matters, ask now.

How do I tell a real Hermès scarf?

The hem is hand-rolled and turned to the front, the print is sharp to the edge of every line, the copyright and design name are printed in the border, and the care tag is a small folded label. We photograph all of that for you before it ships.

Is it new, with the box?

Yes — new, folded in the Hermès box, with a copy of the receipt.

How long does it take?

Seven to ten days in most cases. Insured delivery is charged at cost and quoted with the piece; collection at our Chelsea Harbour showroom is free.
