The Hermès Dépêches is the house's quiet answer to the briefcase — a flat, architectural silhouette drawn for the desk rather than the dinner table, and increasingly the piece collectors reach for when they want Hermès without spectacle. This example arrives in Gold, the warm tobacco-caramel that has come to define the maison's leather goods, worked in Togo calfskin and finished with palladium hardware. Togo is the reason this shape ages so gracefully. Its fine, raised grain resists the scuffing that flat leathers show within a season, and it holds the Dépêches' clean rectangular panels taut without the rigidity of Epsom. Against that warm Gold, the palladium turn-lock reads cool and contemporary — a deliberately modern pairing that keeps the bag from feeling ceremonial. Stamped G, the bag comes to us store fresh, unworn and complete. The proportions are generous enough for a laptop, a folio of papers and the small architecture of a working day, while the single flat handle and slim profile keep it discreet under the arm. Interior organisation is characteristically restrained: Hermès trusts the owner to bring their own order. The Dépêches has quietly become one of the most difficult pieces to source in this configuration. Gold with palladium is requested far more often than it is allocated, and unworn examples rarely reach the secondary market at all — those that do tend to move within days rather than weeks.
