At JULL, most pieces above £3,000 are reserved with a deposit rather than paid in full online. This guide explains exactly how that works — how much you pay, how to pay it, what happens next, and the one rule you should know before you reserve: deposits at JULL are non-refundable.
The short answer
If a piece is priced at £3,000 or less, you simply buy it outright on the product page. If it is priced above £3,000 — which covers most Birkin, Kelly, Mini Kelly, Constance and exotic pieces — you secure it with a deposit of 20% of the price. The first £3,000 of that deposit is placed instantly on the product page; for higher-value pieces, we confirm the remainder with you directly on WhatsApp. The moment your deposit clears, the piece is yours: it comes off the market, the product page shows it as reserved, and no other buyer can take it. You then settle the balance by bank transfer before collection or delivery.
How much is the deposit?
The deposit is 20% of the price, with a minimum of £200. Online, the reservation payment on the product page is capped at £3,000 — so for higher-value and exotic pieces you place £3,000 through the site to take the bag off the market straight away, and we confirm the remaining part of the 20% deposit with you directly on WhatsApp before collection or delivery is arranged.
A few worked examples. A £5,000 Picotin: deposit £1,000, balance £4,000. A £16,500 Birkin 25: deposit £3,300 — £3,000 placed online, the remainder agreed directly. A £63,500 alligator Birkin: deposit £12,700, of which £3,000 is placed online to secure the piece.
The deposit is non-refundable
This is the part to read carefully. When you place a deposit, we withdraw a one-of-a-kind piece from sale. Unlike a boutique with shelves of identical stock, every bag at JULL is unique — the specific leather, colour, hardware and stamp year exist once. While your piece is reserved, we turn away other buyers for it. For that reason, deposits are non-refundable, in line with our final-sale policy.
What this means in practice: reserve when you are certain. If you are choosing between two pieces, ask us questions first — send photos requests, book a private viewing in London, ask for a video call around the bag. We would much rather spend an hour helping you decide than take a deposit from someone who is unsure. The quickest way to do that is WhatsApp: +44 7704 870249.
The one exception, as with everything we sell, is authenticity. Every piece is authenticated in-house before it is offered, and our authenticity guarantee is absolute — the procedure is set out in our Refund Policy.
How to pay
Deposits and balances are paid by bank — either through our pay-by-bank link, where you select your bank and approve the payment in your own banking app, or by ordinary bank transfer to our UK business account. Both routes mean your money moves bank-to-bank with full Faster Payments protection on your side and no card surcharges built into our prices.
What happens after you reserve
First, you receive confirmation from us by email and WhatsApp, and the piece is marked reserved on the site. Second, we agree the next step with you directly: settle the balance and collect at a private appointment in London, arrange same-day delivery in central London, or ship worldwide, fully insured, once the balance clears. Third, the bag arrives with everything we hold for it — box, dustbag, and any receipts or accessories listed on the product page.
If you are overseas, nothing changes except logistics: the same deposit reserves the piece, and we ship insured to most countries once the balance is settled.
Why we work this way
A deposit system is how serious pieces change hands in the resale world. It protects you — the bag cannot be sold from under you while funds transfer — and it protects the collector or boutique source on the other side of the transaction. It also keeps our prices honest: because we are not absorbing card-processing fees or speculative holds, the price on the page is the price you pay.
FAQ
### Is the deposit refundable if I change my mind?
No. Deposits are non-refundable, because your reservation takes a unique piece off the market and we decline other buyers for it. Please reserve only when you are certain — we are happy to arrange viewings, extra photos or a video call first.
### Is the deposit refundable if the bag is not authentic?
Authenticity is the exception to everything. Every piece is authenticated in-house before sale, and if an item were ever proven not to be authentic under the procedure in our Refund Policy, you would be covered in full.
### How do I pay the deposit?
By bank: a pay-by-bank link where you approve the payment in your own banking app, or a standard transfer to our UK business account. We will send the details the moment you confirm you would like to reserve.
### Can I view the bag before paying the balance?
Yes. Private viewings in London are by appointment — message us on WhatsApp at +44 7704 870249 and we will arrange a time.
### What if the piece costs less than £3,000?
Then no deposit is needed at all — pieces at £3,000 or under are bought outright on the product page.
