Who is the best Hermès reseller in the UK? There is no official ranking, and Hermès authorises no reseller, so the honest answer is a test rather than a name: a reseller worth buying from passes eight checks that any buyer can make in ten minutes, before a pound changes hands. Below are the eight, why each matters, and how we answer each one at JULL, a Hermès specialist in Chelsea Harbour, London.
The eight checks at a glance
| Check | What to look for | JULL |
|---|---|---|
| 1. A real company | A UK company number you can look up on Companies House | BY JULL LTD, no. 17144844 |
| 2. A place to see the bag | A showroom address, or a live video call of the exact piece | Harbour Yard, Chelsea Harbour, SW10 0XD, by appointment, seven days 10:00–18:00 |
| 3. The exact bag, described | Blind stamp, condition grade and photographs of the piece sold, not a stock image | On every listing |
| 4. A written guarantee | Authenticity guaranteed in writing, with a full refund | Yes, and independent authentication welcome before the balance is paid |
| 5. Safe payment | Payment to a business account in the company's name | Bank transfer to BY JULL LTD; card only for deposits and pieces under £1,000 |
| 6. Insured delivery | Insured, tracked, signed for | Free in the UK, usually one to three days |
| 7. Reviews you can trust | Reviews held by a third party | Held on Google, not on our site |
| 8. Prices you can compare | Prices published per piece | Every piece priced; live medians in the UK Hermès Price Index |
1. A real company you can look up
Search the company name on Companies House. You should find a registered UK company, its registered office and its directors. A seller who trades only through an Instagram handle or a first name has nothing for you to hold to account. JULL trades as BY JULL LTD, company no. 17144844; its director, Guilherme Ribeiro, spent three years working for Hermès before founding JULL. Is it legal to resell Hermès in the UK? explains what the law allows.
2. A place to see the exact bag
A Birkin or a Kelly is bought on detail: the grain, the corners, the colour in daylight. A showroom, or at least a live video call of the very bag you will receive, is the difference between buying a bag and buying a photograph. Ours is at Harbour Yard, Chelsea Harbour, open every day from 10:00 to 18:00 by appointment; how a viewing works.
3. The blind stamp and condition, per piece
The blind stamp gives the year a bag was made, and the condition grade says whether it has ever been carried. Both should be on the listing, with photographs of the exact piece. Most of our stock is new and unworn, and Store Fresh is stated only where it is true; condition grades explained.
4. A written authenticity guarantee
Look for a guarantee in writing and a full refund if a piece is ever proven not authentic, and for a seller who is happy for you to have the bag examined by an authenticator of your choice. Ours is in our refund policy. The checks we make ourselves are set out in how to tell if a Birkin is real.
5. Payment to the company, not to a person
Pay by bank transfer to an account in the company's name, so that the payee check at your bank confirms who you are paying. Be wary of requests to pay a private individual, a third party or in cryptocurrency. At JULL, full payment is by bank transfer to BY JULL LTD; card and Apple Pay are for deposits and pieces under £1,000; a 25% deposit holds a piece for up to five days. How to pay for a Hermès bag sets out each route.
6. Insured, tracked delivery
A bag worth more than a car should travel insured for its full value, tracked and signed for. Ours goes free, insured and tracked anywhere in the UK, usually in one to three days, or can be collected at the showroom; delivery in detail.
7. Reviews held somewhere else
Testimonials on a seller's own site are chosen by the seller. Reviews on Google are not. Read the recent ones and the replies. Ours are on our Google profile.
8. Prices you can compare
A reseller that publishes a price on every piece lets you compare like with like: same model, size, leather and stamp year. We publish ours, and count them daily into the UK Hermès Price Index, so you can see the lowest, median and highest price for each model before you ask anyone for a quote.
Reseller, boutique or auction?
The boutique is the cheapest place to buy a Birkin or Kelly, but it offers them only to established clients and rarely in the colour you choose; quota bags explained. Auction houses are transparent on price but add buyer's premium and leave you no time to see the bag; auction or reseller. A specialist reseller costs more than the boutique and lets you choose the exact bag and carry it this week.
