Which Hermès bags are quota bags? Hermès does not publish a list, but in 2026 the bags its boutiques allocate rather than sell on request are the Birkin, the Kelly in every form (including the Mini Kelly and the Kelly Pochette) and the Constance, in every size, plus any Hermès bag in crocodile, alligator, ostrich or lizard. Everything else can usually be bought when a boutique has it in stock. The list below is what we see from boutiques and clients every week.
The quota bags
| Bag | Quota bag? | What that means in practice |
|---|---|---|
| Birkin, all sizes | Yes | Offered to established clients; the 25 is the hardest |
| Kelly, all sizes | Yes | Kelly 25 and 28 most allocated |
| Mini Kelly | Yes | The most requested small bag in the house |
| Kelly Pochette and Kelly Cut | Yes, in practice | Made in small numbers, offered at discretion |
| Constance, Mini Constance | Yes | Allocated like a Birkin |
| Any bag in exotic leather | Yes | Crocodile, alligator, ostrich, lizard |
| Kelly To Go, Constance To Go | Scarce | Sold when in, but rarely in for long |
| Lindy, Mini Lindy | Scarce | Not formally allocated; the Mini is hard to find |
| Picotin, Evelyne, Garden Party, Herbag, Bolide | No | Bought when a boutique has them |
How a quota bag is offered
There is no waiting list. Each boutique receives a small number of quota bags and the sales associate offers them to clients they know, usually after a history of purchases in other categories. You rarely choose the colour, and a client may be offered one or two a year. The full mechanism, and what it costs in time and spending, is in Hermès quota bags explained.
Buying a quota bag without a purchase history
The other route is a specialist who already holds the bag. At JULL the quota bags are the larger part of our floor: more than 60 Birkins and more than 120 Kellys, most of them new and unworn, each photographed as the exact piece sold with its blind stamp. You choose the size, leather, colour and hardware, and you can carry it this week. The price is above boutique retail, and the live numbers are in the Birkin 25 price guide, the Mini Kelly price guide and the Constance price guide. The table above shows what our quota bags cost today.
Is a non-quota bag a lesser bag?
No. The Picotin, Evelyne and Lindy are made in the same workshops from the same leathers, and many of our clients carry them more often than their Birkin. They are also the bags that cost closest to their boutique price: see the Picotin price guide and the Mini Lindy price guide.
Buying from JULL
You can see any bag at our showroom in Chelsea Harbour, by appointment seven days a week, or on a live video call before paying. Payment is by bank transfer to BY JULL LTD, and when you order online the piece is held for you for 12 hours while the transfer arrives. UK delivery is free, insured and tracked; abroad, it goes by insured courier, quoted per country. Every allocated bag on our floor is in the quota bags gallery.
