The Chanel Classic Flap in Black with gold hardware is the most iconic and most universally desired bag in the Chanel archive — the piece Coco Chanel first designed in 1955 and Karl Lagerfeld evolved into the modern 2.55. Preloved condition. The Classic Flap silhouette is among the most influential bag designs of the twentieth century: a quilted leather body, the iconic double-C interlocking turn-lock, and the woven chain-and-leather strap. Every element of the bag carries Chanel-house meaning — the diamond quilting recalling jockey jackets, the chain referencing convent caretakers' keys, the burgundy lining echoing Coco's childhood at the Aubazine convent. In black, the Classic Flap reads as the absolute platonic interpretation of the model — the colour every other Classic Flap colour is measured against.
