Chanel's recent seasons have been defined by a return to ease, and the Maxi Hobo is that idea distilled: a large, liquid-soft shoulder bag that carries the house's codes with none of the formality. This example, from the 26P collection, is cut in burgundy lambskin — a deep, vinous shade that functions as a neutral while being far more interesting than one. The leather is gently puffed and quilted at the base, rising to a clean, slouching body that folds and settles with the wearer; the effect is nonchalant in the way only very considered design can be. A polished CC in gold-tone metal sits low on the front, an understated signature on an otherwise quiet exterior, and a slim adjustable shoulder strap keeps the line long and easy. An exterior slip pocket swallows a phone or boarding pass; inside, the bag is far roomier than its soft profile suggests, taking a full day's essentials without losing its shape entirely — this is a bag designed to be lived with.
