The Constance 24 is the quietest of the great Hermès shoulder bags, and the one that rewards close looking. Its whole identity rests on a single gesture: the oversized H clasp that closes the flap, forged here in gold-plated hardware and set against skin the colour of aged Bordeaux. That skin is shiny alligator — the most exacting material the house works with, and the reason a bag like this is measured in years rather than months. The scales are hand-selected and matched so that the pattern narrows evenly from the flap towards the base, tightening as it travels, and the glazed finish is achieved by polishing each panel by hand with agate stone until the surface holds light like lacquer. In Bordeaux that finish shifts constantly: near-black in shadow, deep claret in daylight, the ridge of every scale catching a red highlight. The twenty-four centimetre size is the one most often asked for. Worn cross-body on the adjustable strap, or shortened and carried on the shoulder, it holds a phone, a cardholder and a lipstick without ever losing its flat, architectural line. Inside, twin compartments and a slip pocket keep the bag disciplined; outside, nothing interrupts the surface but the H. Exotic Hermès in this configuration — Bordeaux, shiny alligator, gold hardware — is produced in very small numbers and rarely reaches the secondary market in wearable condition.
