The piece in detail

A horseshoe stamp on a Mini Kelly is the mark of a special order — a bag commissioned rather than bought, built to a client's own brief and produced in a single example. Most HSS pieces announce themselves in colour, pairing two or three shades across the exterior. This one does the opposite, and is the more interesting for it: the specification went to a single, uninterrupted Noir. That restraint is the point. On a Mini Kelly the proportions are already doing a great deal of work — the 20 centimetre body, the tall handle, the strap that converts the bag from handheld to cross-body — and a quiet colour lets the shape speak without interruption. In Noir the whole object reads as one clean line, and the only thing that breaks it is the palladium. Epsom is the leather that suits this treatment best. The pressed grain holds the Mini Kelly's sharp corners and flat flap without softening over time, keeps its structure when the bag is barely filled, and stays unmarked in a way that matters enormously on a piece worn against clothing all day. Palladium hardware reads cool and bright against the black — the turn-lock, the sangles and the clochette catch light where the leather absorbs it. The K blind stamp dates the order to 2026, and the horseshoe beside it confirms the special-order status. The bag comes to us store fresh: corners unmarked, hardware still filmed, strap unstretched, with clochette, lock, keys, dust bag and box all present. Special orders in a single core colour are quietly the hardest HSS pieces to find, precisely because so few clients spend a special order on restraint.
