Hermès has always borrowed from the jewel box when naming its greens, and Vert Jade is the most literal of those borrowings — a cool, stone-washed green with the milky depth of the mineral itself. It is a colour that shifts with its company: celadon beside white, forest beside black, unmistakably precious beside gold. Green has quietly become the collector's colour of the decade, and jade tones lead it. Here it dresses the Mini Kelly II, the twenty-centimetre edition of the bag Grace Kelly made a legend, and arguably the most oversubscribed silhouette in the entire Hermès universe. Epsom leather serves the colour perfectly, its fine pressed grain keeping edges sharp, weight low and the green evenly luminous across every panel. It is also the leather best suited to a bag this small, where structure is the entire silhouette. Palladium hardware sustains the cool, watery register — no competing warmth, just polish. Worn crossbody with knitwear it is charming; carried by its top handle at night it becomes an ornament in its own right. The Mini Kelly cannot be bought by walking into a boutique; allocations are scarce even for the house's oldest clients, and seasonal greens like Vert Jade may pass through a store once and never return.
