The piece in detail

The Neo Garden Party is the newest branch of the Garden Party family and the smallest of them, introduced in 2024 and built to a brief the older totes never had. At 23 by 16 by 10 centimetres it is the proportion the house arrived at after decades of making the Garden Party larger. Two short handles, a front Clou de Selle snap, and snaps at both sides that let the mouth open wide for packing and sit neatly closed once it is full. That closure is the point of the design: the classic Garden Party has no fastening at all. This one frames ecru toile in Bleu Tempete, a storm blue, grey-shadowed and deep, the colour of the North Sea an hour before rain. Against pale canvas it is as crisp as a navy blazer over summer linen. The two materials age on different clocks, the canvas relaxing while the leather deepens, which is the quiet charm of a two-material Hermes piece. Palladium hardware stays cool and utilitarian, in keeping with the model's working roots. Nothing shines that does not need to. Inside there is one main compartment and a single pocket, sized for a phone, a slim wallet, keys and sunglasses. It is carried in the hand or the crook of the arm, and it holds its shape whether packed or empty.
