In February 1955 Gabrielle Chanel freed women's hands with a chain-strapped rectangle that became the 2.55; in 1983 Karl Lagerfeld added the interlocked CC turnlock and created the Classic Flap. Between those two dates lies the most collected handbag in the world. This example takes that canon and dresses it down brilliantly: washed blue denim in place of lambskin, quilted in the signature diamonds, hung on the classic woven-chain strap with gold hardware. Denim flaps occupy a peculiar sweet spot for collectors — instantly recognisable as Classic, impossible to mistake for anyone else's, and produced only in occasional seasonal runs that vanish on release. They are the rare Chanel that reads as both heirloom and off-duty, which is exactly the modern brief. The fabric wears in rather than out, softening like the jeans it salutes, while the gold chain and turnlock keep every code intact. Over a white shirt it is effortless; against evening black it lands with deliberate wit. Recent denim editions have appreciated on the secondary market faster than many of their leather counterparts, which explains why examples in genuinely clean condition rarely stay listed for long.
