A Birkin 30 in Etoupe Grizzly with palladium hardware, offered at £22,800. The leather is the point: Grizzly is among the most characterful skins the maison cuts, and in Etoupe it settles into a quiet, tactile grey-taupe that rewards a closer look. Z stamp, store-fresh condition, with the original receipt. Etoupe is the neutral serious collectors return to — warmer than grey, cooler than beige, and at ease with everything from black tailoring to summer linen. On Grizzly it takes on a soft, dimensional character: a fine, slightly irregular grain with a supple, almost suede-like hand that reads as lived-in luxury rather than showroom polish. It photographs gently and, in the hand, feels unmistakably rare. Grizzly is not a leather Hermès produces in volume. It appears in limited runs, often paired with Swift on special pieces, and examples in a solid colourway are noticeably harder to find than the Togo and Epsom that fill most Birkin allocations. Where Togo is robust and pebbled and Epsom crisp and structured, Grizzly is softer and more sculptural, giving the bag a relaxed shape that settles beautifully with wear. The thirty-centimetre Birkin is the original proportion — roomy enough for a laptop and the essentials of a full day, compact enough to feel considered rather than oversized. Palladium hardware keeps the palette cool and modern, a clean counterpoint to the warmth of the leather. The classic turn-lock, padlock and clochette complete the piece.
