A Birkin 30 in sellier construction is already an uncommon sight; in a two-tone Epsom of Sesame and Etoupe, lined in Blue Indigo, it becomes something closer to a collector's brief than a stock colourway. Sesame is Hermès' pale, sun-warmed beige and Etoupe the house's signature taupe, and the two are split vertically down the front of the bag so that it reads as one quiet, tonal composition from a distance and as a deliberate colour-block up close. Open the flap and the interior shifts to a deep Blue Indigo — a contrast that stays private until the bag is actually in use. Epsom is an embossed, grained calfskin: light in the hand, rigid and almost indifferent to weather, which suits sellier tailoring perfectly. The seams are stitched on the outside in a contrasting thread, the corners hold their edge, and the silhouette keeps its upright, architectural posture whether the bag is carried on the arm or set down on a table. Palladium hardware — the turnlock, the plates, the padlock and clochette, the four feet — keeps the palette cool, so the warm neutrals never tip into anything sweet. The 30 is the Birkin size that works hardest. It is roomy enough for a full working day and a tablet, yet still light enough in Epsom to carry by the top handles rather than over the shoulder, and it sits comfortably in the lap of a car or on a restaurant chair.
