The Hermès Haut à Courroies 40 in Écorce Togo with palladium hardware is a heritage travel piece for the contemporary traveller — the original Hermès grand travel bag from which the Birkin was descended, in a warm earth-tone Togo with cool-tone modern hardware. Year W (2025) production stamp, store-fresh condition. The Haut à Courroies — 'high-strap' — is the original Hermès grand travel bag from the late nineteenth century. While the Birkin reduced the silhouette for everyday use in 1984, the Haut à Courroies retains its tall, equestrian-travel proportions and double-strap closure. In the 40cm size, it functions as a true overnight or weekend bag, with capacity for a folded suit, shoes, toiletries and small leather goods. Écorce — 'bark' — is a warm, earthy brown with hints of green undertone, named for the colour of natural tree bark. On Togo, the colour reads with particular dimensional depth — the pebbled grain catching warm light across the surface.
