A Kelly Pochette in Blue Izmir on shiny leather, finished with palladium hardware — one of those pieces that reads as both precise and vivid the moment it is set down on a table. Square Q stamp, unworn condition. Within the Kelly family, the Pochette occupies its own clear territory. It dispenses with the formality of the larger formats and moves between a flat clutch carried in the hand and a compact shoulder bag depending on its chain, making it one of the more versatile silhouettes the house produces. It is the version that reaches for dinner first, but it is equally at home in the pocket of a coat at a Saturday morning market. The structured trapeze shape is unmistakably Kelly; the scale simply asks for less ceremony. Blue Izmir is a clear, luminous blue with a Mediterranean warmth to it — not the cool distance of some of the house's navy or cobalt shades, but something closer to the particular brightness of sunlit Aegean water. On shiny leather, the tone becomes more concentrated and the surface carries a depth that shifts slightly as the bag moves through different light. The chromatic effect is considerably more compelling in person than photographs tend to suggest. The palladium hardware is cool and unfussy, a considered pairing with this particular blue.
