There are two ways to read Mauve Sylvestre. The first is as a pastel — a pale lilac that photographs sweetly and sits comfortably beside Rose Pourpre and Mauve Pâle. The second, and the more accurate one, is as a grey: the pigment carries enough smoke to behave as a neutral against navy, camel and black, which is why clients who arrive intending to buy something safe frequently leave with this instead. This is a Mini Kelly II in Epsom with palladium hardware, blind stamp G. Epsom is the leather the mini was designed around. Its pressed grain gives the bag its architecture — the flap sits flat, the corners stay sharp, the sangles hold their line — and it renders pale colour with a clarity that softer grained calfskins lose. In a bag this small, that structural honesty is the whole proposition. Palladium rather than gold is deliberate. Warm metal pulls the pink forward and makes the bag read younger; white metal holds the mauve where Hermès set it, cool and faintly severe, and lets the colour carry the piece on its own terms. The result works in daylight in a way most pastels do not. Supply is the other half of the story. Mini Kellys are produced in quantities that bear no relationship to the waiting lists, and pastel Epsom examples rarely reach the secondary market unworn. This one has not been carried: original receipt, dust bag, rain cover, clochette, keys, lock and hardware protection all present, structure upright, lock tight, interior clean. Priced at £27,500.
