Before there was a Kelly there was the Sac à dépêches, the 1930s document case built to carry diplomatic dispatches — and it is from that austere briefcase that the Dépêches pouch descends. Slimmed to hand-held proportions, it keeps the original's flat planes, saddle stitching and unhurried authority, translated for a generation that carries less and expects more. This example is rendered in Black Togo, the definitive Hermès pairing of colour and calfskin: matte, pebbled, quietly indestructible. Togo takes black particularly well — the grain breaks the light into a soft, even matte that never looks flat, while shrugging off the scuffs a daily carry invites. Palladium hardware limits the shine to a single cool note at the closure. It is the rare accessory that answers both wardrobes at once — as correct tucked under a dinner jacket as it is riding beside a laptop in a tote.
