The Hac à Dos is the Haut à Courroies turned on its back. Hermès took the shape it originally made for carrying riding boots, added two straps, and produced the only backpack in luxury leather goods that does not look like a concession to convenience. The proportions are what make it work. The PM is the smaller of the two sizes and reads as a bag rather than a piece of equipment — narrow through the body, tall rather than wide, with the HAC's characteristic tall handles left in place above the flap. Carried on both shoulders it is a backpack; carried by the handles it is a HAC. Neither reading feels like a compromise. Bleu Tempête is the storm blue in the current palette — deep, slightly inky, closer to a wet slate than to navy. In Togo the colour has real depth: the raised grain catches light unevenly, so the shade shifts across the panel rather than sitting flat, and the tone reads almost black indoors before opening up outside. Togo is also the practical answer for a bag worn against a coat. It takes rain, it takes abrasion at the shoulder, and it does not show the small marks that a smooth calf would collect within a week of real use. Palladium hardware throughout, stamped G, and store fresh — never carried. Supplied with box, dust bag, clochette, keys, lock and raincoat. Priced at £8,600. The Hac à Dos is produced in small numbers and released by allocation rather than standing order, so availability at this specification is intermittent and rarely repeats within a season. Available for private viewing by appointment at our Knightsbridge showroom. Enquire for full condition notes and provenance detail.
