An exotic skin Mini Bolide in Ombré, finished with palladium hardware — a piece that moves between formal restraint and quiet spectacle. G stamp, brand new condition. First produced in 1923, the Bolide holds a particular position at Hermès: it was the first bag designed with a zip closure, and that pragmatism has never left its character. In its mini proportion, the silhouette retains the rounded body and clean topline of the original whilst paring everything back to the essential. It is the bag one reaches for when the occasion demands something considered rather than conspicuous — a dinner, a gallery opening, an afternoon that requires only the necessities carried well. Ombré is not a single colour so much as a technique applied to one: the leather — or in this case, exotic skin — is dyed in graduating depth, moving from a lighter register at one end to a concentrated intensity at the other. On exotic skin, the effect is amplified by the natural geometry of the scales, which catch and diffuse light differently across the tonal shift. The result reads as both chromatic and textural at once, which is what distinguishes it from a conventional colourway. The palladium hardware sits in cool contrast to the warmth of the graduated skin, its silvered finish neither assertive nor recessive.
