The piece in detail
A second Birkin 25 in Noir Epsom sellier has reached us, and for anyone who missed the first, the timing is fortunate. Sellier construction is the quieter of the two Birkin builds: the panels are stitched with the seams turned outward, which gives the bag a crisper edge, a flatter profile and a noticeably more disciplined stance than the familiar retourné finish. On a 25 the effect is pronounced — the silhouette reads almost architectural, holding its shape whether the bag is full or nearly empty. Epsom is the natural partner to that construction. The grain is pressed rather than raised, so it resists slouching, shrugs off light rain and keeps its structure through years of daily use. It also stays clean in a way softer leathers cannot, which matters on a bag this size, where every mark sits in plain view. In Noir it becomes something close to formalwear: a flat, absolute black with no brown or blue cast, taking light along the ridges of the grain and giving nothing back from the hollows. Gold hardware is what lifts the piece out of severity. Against black Epsom the warm tone reads as deliberate contrast rather than decoration, catching the eye at the clasp, the feet and the turn-lock, and softening a bag that could otherwise feel austere. The U blind stamp places this example in recent production, and it arrives store fresh — sharp corners, unmarked base studs, plaques still filmed, with clochette, lock, keys, dust bag and box all accounted for. Black Birkins are the hardest configuration to source at any size, and sellier examples in the 25 are scarcer still, since the construction is offered far less often than retourné. Priced at £24,500, fully authenticated, and available to view in London by appointment.
