Etoupe is the Hermès neutral that never quite reads as beige or grey — a warm, dusty taupe that shifts with the light and sits easily beside black, denim, camel or white. Rendered in Epsom with sellier construction, it becomes the most tailored version of the Birkin 25: the seams are stitched on the outside in a contrasting ecru thread, the corners stay crisp, and the body keeps its upright, boxy posture whether it is set down on a table or carried by the top handles. Epsom is an embossed, grained calfskin that is light in the hand and almost indifferent to weather. It does not slouch, it resists scratches better than the softer leathers, and it holds colour with unusual evenness, which is why etoupe in Epsom looks so clean and matte.
