A Birkin 29 Shoulder in Fauve Barenia with palladium hardware — a configuration that places function and rarity in the same object. Brand new, K 2025 stamp. The 29 Shoulder is the least expected member of the Birkin family: a structured bag rethought for hands-free carry, retaining the silhouette's characteristic proportions while adding a discrete shoulder strap. At 29 centimetres it occupies the precise point between day practicality and evening credibility, and it is the format most often requested by those who want the house's founding shape without being tethered to one hand. Its relatively recent introduction means examples in this condition, in this leather, are not easily found outside of the atelier's own distribution. Fauve is the French word for a tawny, golden-brown — the colour of dried autumn grasses or warm, unfinished hide. On Barenia, which is Hermès's oldest saddlery leather, tanned by a process the house has used for generations, the shade deepens and shifts in changing light. New Barenia is smooth and slightly rigid; with contact and time it develops a patina that other leathers only approximate. The colour read here is neither orange nor tan but something between them — rich, natural, warm without being ruddy. Palladium hardware provides a cool silver finish that steadies the warmth of the Fauve without competing with it.
