Volupto — from the Latin voluptas, 'pleasure' — is a calfskin Hermès introduced in recent years specifically to offer a soft, almost suede-adjacent matte finish on a structural calf base. The leather reads as cool and contemporary, almost like a soft chalk-finish, with a tactile quality that distinguishes it from grained leathers like Togo or printed ones like Epsom. In black, Volupto produces an absorbent, matte register — the deepest possible black on a smooth-touch surface. The Birkin 25 is currently the most over-allocated Birkin proportion in production. Palladium hardware in cool white-platinum tone is the natural pairing with Volupto's cool matte register — the overall palette stays within the architectural cool spectrum.
