The piece in detail
The Sellier Birkin is the quieter obsession within an already obsessive category. Where the standard retourné construction turns the seams inward for a softer, rounder profile, the sellier method leaves the stitching exposed on the outside, producing a bag with sharper corners, a more architectural stance and an unmistakably formal presence. It is a construction Hermès reserves for firmer leathers, and it is offered far less frequently than its rounded sibling. In Noir Epsom the effect is at its most disciplined. Epsom is a pressed, fine-grained calf that holds a crease exactly where it is put and refuses to slouch; combined with sellier construction, it gives the Birkin 25 an almost sculptural rigidity. The bag stands unaided, the flap falls precisely, and the silhouette remains identical whether the bag is full or nearly empty. Black is the specification most requested and least frequently allocated. In Epsom it is also the most practical: the grain is water-resistant, wipes clean, and shows wear far more slowly than smoother finishes. Gold hardware lifts the whole composition, the warm metal reading against black with the clarity that has made this pairing a permanent fixture in the wardrobes of collectors. This example carries blind stamp B and is offered in store fresh condition, with lock, keys, clochette and protective felts present. The plating is unmarked, the piping crisp, and the interior clean. Every piece at JULL is inspected in person before listing, and photographed as it is rather than as it might flatter. We are pleased to arrange a private viewing in London, or to provide a detailed condition report and additional images for clients purchasing at a distance. Fully insured worldwide shipping is available, and our team can advise on duties and import matters before you commit.
